Sausage Noodle Salad Meal In A Jar
Another great meal in a jar recipe! You can choose to either use Thrive Life's Sausage Crumbles or Thrive Life's Ground Beef. We choose the ground beef this time and it tasted great.
When you're meal prepping the meals in a jar, you could choose to make 1/2 with the Thrive Sausage Crumbles and 1/2 with the Thrive Ground Beef or even split the amount per jar in half and use both. These recipes are great since you can mix and match and make 1 meal several different ways.
Since I had large macaroni noodles on hand, I used those but you can use the small macaroni noodles too. This is one of those meals that you can serve hot or cold. Since we're in Arizona, a cold noodle salad is a nice, refreshing meal in the middle of summer.
We like to eat it either way but when I know we're going to have it cold, I'll make it a day ahead of time. That way when we're ready to eat, I just pull it out of the fridge, mix and serve. I also let the mayonnaise soak in overnight.
In the video, I show the mayonnaise packets you can include in your meal in a jar. This is especially nice if you're taking this meal camping or even along with you in your RV. It will be ready when you are. Since we're eating it at home, I used more mayo than a packet. I'm a bit of a mayonnaise lover and just like me and chocolate chips, more is better.
Also in the video, I mentioned 1 1/2 jars of water. Start with 1 jar of water and add more as needed. Anytime you're using freeze dried foods, you want to have enough water to cover your food to make sure it is refreshing or rehydrating. I start on the lower side and work my way up, if needed.
We make our meal in a jar recipes in a pint size jar which is 2 servings. If you're making this for a family or want leftovers, use the quart size jar. If you're using the quart size jar, I would make sure the water covers the food enough so that you can have it boil.
Since the size of the noodles or broccoli can vary, you may need to push down the dried ingredients in your meal in a jar.
